The Lyxor CTA Long Term Index (+3.6%), the Lyxor Global Macro Index (+1.8%), and the Lyxor LS Equity Variable Bias Index (+1.2%) were the best performers.

Fifty CTAs launched in the first nine months of 2015, and the year looks set for the fewest launches since 2006, when 66 CTA funds launched. As a proportion of all hedge funds launched each year, the fraction represented by CTAs has fallen below 10% for the first time since 2006, and now stands at 9%.

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) today announced that active funds in its private equity program have added $24.2 billion in realized net gains to the Fund from 1990 to June 30, 2015, based on data from its newly operational Private Equity Accounting and Reporting Solution (PEARS).

Markets were on standby mode ahead of the Fed’s meeting last week. Hedge funds were flat and there was little dispersion in returns across the managers (see chart). Event-Driven outperformed as equity volatility edged lower. Meanwhile, Fixed Income strategies underperformed as sovereign bond yields moved higher.
