“There remains significant institutional investor appetite for infrastructure exposure, which is reflected in the continued strong fundraising seen in 2014 to date. A number of the largest players in the infrastructure fund space have closed large offerings this year, frequently exceeding their fundraising goals, and the average infrastructure fund is now over $1bn in size. The number of funds to close has fallen however, as the larger players have taken a greater share of the market, and for many of the more recently established infrastructure fund managers, fundraising remains a very difficult prospect” says Andrew Moylan, Head of Real Assets Products, Preqin.
